Miss May I is an American metalcore band from Troy, Ohio, formed in 2007. The band has been a prominent force in the metal scene for over a decade and a half, known for their unique blend of melodic metalcore with elements of thrash and death metal. Their lineup has remained relatively stable throughout their career, with Levi Benton on lead vocals, Ryan Neff on bass and clean vocals, and Jerod Boyd on drums. However, in 2024, guitarists B.J. Stead and Justin Aufdemkampe left the band, with Elisha Mullins joining as a new member.

The band’s discography includes several successful albums, starting with their debut “Apologies Are for the Weak” in 2009, which was released while the members were still in high school. They have consistently released albums that have charted well, with several reaching the Top 5 on Billboard’s Hard Music chart. Their most recent album, “Curse of Existence,” was released in September 2022.

Miss May I’s music is characterized by a combination of aggressive metalcore riffs, melodic guitar work, and a mix of harsh and clean vocals. They draw inspiration from bands like As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, and Killswitch Engage. The band has toured extensively, sharing stages with prominent acts in the metal scene, and their music has been featured in various media, including the “Saw VI” soundtrack and the video game “Saints Row: The Third”.

In celebration of the 15th anniversary of their debut album, Miss May I recently re-recorded “Apologies Are for the Weak” with guest appearances from various prominent figures in the metalcore scene. This re-release, along with recent changes in the band’s lineup and a new record deal with Solid State Records, marks a period of renewal and reflection for the band.

Miss May I continues to be an influential presence in the metalcore genre, evolving their sound while maintaining the aggressive energy that has defined their career. They have announced three exclusive headliner concerts in Germany for December 2024, where they will perform “Apologies Are for the Weak” in its entirety, showcasing their enduring impact on the metal music scene.
