Berlin’s Velodrom erupted in a storm of nostalgia and power as Disturbed celebrated the 25th anniversary of their breakthrough album The Sickness. With Megadeth as special guests, the night was a masterclass in metal history—one band honoring its roots, the other reaffirming why they remain titans of thrash.
Megadeth opened with precision and fury, tearing through a career-spanning set that included Hangar 18, Tornado of Souls, and Symphony of Destruction. Dave Mustaine’s relentless riffs and stoic stage presence set the perfect tone for the night, leaving the Berlin crowd primed for what was to come.
When Disturbed took over, theatrics met thunder. The show began behind a projection screen that displayed the band’s legacy unfolding in reverse—a cinematic lead-in to Voices, the ferocious opening track of The Sickness. Frontman David Draiman, emerging in a straitjacket and muzzle, commanded attention from the first growl. Flames, pyrotechnics, and towering visuals turned the Velodrom into a temple of catharsis as the band powered through the album in full—Stupify, Fear, and the inevitable Down With the Sickness sending waves of adrenaline through the packed venue.
After a brief intermission, Disturbed returned for a Greatest Hits set bursting with fan favorites: Ten Thousand Fists, Indestructible, the emotionally charged The Sound of Silence, and the fiery closer Inside the Fire. Draiman’s vocal control oscillated between primal rage and haunting vulnerability, encapsulating two decades of evolution without losing the raw spark that made The Sickness revolutionary.
By the time the final notes faded, the Velodrom crowd stood drenched and unified—a reminder that even after 25 years, Disturbed remain one of modern metal’s most commanding live forces.
