The Amity Affliction are the spearhead of the Australian Hardcore/Metalcore scene right now. The Band from Gympie – a small city on the east coast of Australia – were founded in 2003 and started to release records straight away. Until today TAA have released three Eps and three albums - With their albums especially (SEVERED TIES, YOUNGBLOODS, CHASING GHOSTS and LET THE OCEAN TAKE ME) helping them to get their name out. Ahren Stringer and Troy Brady founded the Band, along with shouter Joel Birch and Ryan Burt making up the current line up - These four guys still form the heart of the band until now.(1)
Defeater: Master of story telling Defeater created a story which they add new parts and views to with every record. Starting with TRAVELS they introduce the youngest son of a worker family in the USA who kills his dad and runs away from home. This story continues on their LOST GROUND EP and on the albums EMPTY DAYS & SLEEPLESS NIGHTS and LETTERS HOME. Their distinctive sound made them famous beyond the borders of their home town Boston.(1)
Fit for a King, also known as FFAK, is an American Christian metalcore band from both Dallas and Tyler, Texas that started in 2007.They released two independent EPs in 2008 entitled Fit for a King and 2009's Awaken the Vesper and they released one independent LP entitled Descendants in 2011. Then, the band released three studio albums with their label Solid State Records entitled Creation/Destruction (2013), a re-recorded Descendants (2013), and Slave to Nothing.(2)
Cruel Hand is an American hardcore punk band from Portland, Maine that formed in 2006. As of 2013, Cruel Hand has released four full-length albums: Without a Pulse on 6131 Records, Prying Eyes and Lock & Key on Bridge 9 Records and The Negatives on Hopeless Records. The band has also released three EPs on Bridge 9: Life in Shambles, Cruel Hand and Born Into Debt, We All Owe a Death. Their song "Face to Face" is featured on Triple B Records' 2010 America's Hardcore Compilation. (2)
Being As An Ocean: It is hard to describe the sound of Being As An Ocean to an outsider, and it's even more challenging to have to compare them to other bands. With a mixture of spoken word, screamo and melodic metalcore, they create their unique sound which out of nowhere made them into one of the most important bands in the melodic hardcore scene, which also contains bands like Hundredth and Capsize. With their latest record BEING AS AN OCEAN, which will be released via InVouge Records and Impericon Records, the band proves that they also know how to play hard and compact music. With 'Little Richie' they show in what kind of direction their sound is heading. (1)
Burning Down Alaska: In a time where every niche seems to be filled without any gap, BURNING DOWN ALASKA break through the seemingly settled principles of a scene with their New Wave Hardcore and succeed in expanding the borders of a clearly defined genre. Their debut “Values & Virtues” presents dreamlike melodies, complex guitar-riffs that could rather be found in the Indie genre, accompanied by deep growls and shouts, which even clean singing can’t exceed in terms of melody and feeling.
